The Club Music Video Awards are back!
- Panel of judges to include Ugandan music veterans
- 15 categories to be awarded
Today, The Music Video Awards (MVAs) were announced at a media launch hosted at Club Play. The MVAs brought to you by Urbane Music Video Awards Ltd (UMVA) in association with Club Pilsener will take place in March 2017 and will once again highlight the ‘gold standard’ in music, creativity and achievement at the 2nd edition.
NBL’s Club Pilsener returns as the title sponsor of the 2016 MVAs.
Speaking about the awards, John Katete, Brand manager, Club Pilsener said, “As a vibrant and influential brand, Club Pilsener forms a brilliant backdrop to the MVAs, simply because we encourage individuality and Ugandan artists each have their own ‘cool’ and this is shown in their videos, we are glad to be part of this recognition.”
Speaking about the Awards, Peter Katonene, UMVA Director said, “The 2016 MVAs promises to be the highest profile music event. Urbane is proud to play our part in bringing this inspirational salute to Ugandan music excellence to music fans not only in Uganda but around Africa. This year we have added some new categories because we need to recognize all possible and relevant platforms with the MVAs.”
First staged in 2013, the then CMVAs recognized the talent of musicians, achievers and personalities from across Uganda, rewarding iconic artists and game-changers such as Amaru, Navio, GNL Zamba, Kino Musoke, Radio and Weasel and many more.
The two-month long campaign entails submission of entries, nominations, judging, voting and will culminate into the main event.
The MVAs will engage a panel of judges, both local and international, and technical analysts with a wealth of experience in music and video production in Uganda, Africa and the world over. Their expertise and advice will ultimately prompt music video makers and musicians alike to learn new skills, evaluate their work and improve on it.
MVAs 2016 will celebrate Ugandan talent across 15 award categories. The nominations for the awards will be revealed on 9 February 2017.
To ensure that the awards ceremony lives up to excellence, Club Pilsener has once again partnered with ROCKSTAR4000, who have created and executive produced over 920 events across 5 continents including our first edition of the CMVAs.
Independent audit firm, Alexander Forbes is the official auditor of the Club Music Video Awards.
